I was shopping a week or so ago, looking through poetry compilations and seeing so many written specifically for and about women. Not that I have a problem with that, the voices of women in poetry inspired me to begin writing. Standing among the giants like Maya Angelou and Emily Dickinson, my mother was the foremost among them who inspired me to write these words. What I realized as I browsed through a handful of newer compilations is that there seemed to be a lack of poetry aimed towards young men. I wanted to leave a message about that here.
